How do I tell a Honda engine from a Rover one, is it something to do with the distributor?
Sorry for the silly question, just wondered which is fitted to my Cabby?

Yes and no. They don't suffer from head gasket failure anywhere near as often as the K series rover engines. However their usual fault is the igniter in the distributor failing. If you get a no start accompanied by no spark then this is the prime suspect. Overall a good engine with a fair bit of tuning potential if that is what you are into.

There was a DOHC GTi on ebay this week, went for under £300
I was trying to figure out whether I could afford a second one myself, at that price. Was tempted to think of squirrelling it away!
Someone got a real bargain. I'll keep a beady out, if it's just the engine you're a wontin'?
