Rover 25 - Donated, MOT'd and sold within 48 hours !

Post by GTiJohn »

There's lots of good news in this post !

After a conversation via email, 'Daisy' was delivered to me on Sunday by a lovely family and was even better than I'd dared hope from the description and MOT history...

I took her for an MOT on Monday, which she passed with one advisory - a sticky NSF caliper, which I've fixed by cleaning the pad contacts. She was solid and tidy underneath but full of dry mud in the wheelarches, which has now been removed.

She drives well with no bumps or rattles and everything works, except the CD player - the radio works, it just won't recognise CDs.

The original plan was to put the car in storage until the Restoration Show in March but a guy locally asked me to keep an eye out for a suitable car for him, after being impressed for the 45 his son bought via the club 2 years ago. So, a deal was done quickly and all profits are to be split between Macmillan and the Cats Protection League.

After meeting the family, it was obvious how much the loved Daisy and wanted her to go to a good home, which she will now. Sorting this quickly was important to them too, as they can't wait long for some good news...

The car can still be available for the Resto Show, if it's still our best choice. It needs a new headlining and 2 new wings, which were supplied with the car unpainted.

Daisy came with a boot full of spare and fitted with several accessories, some of which will be available soon to add to the charity donations.

A happy story John

Looking at the paint inside the hatch the colour looks similar to Silver/blue of my late 93 214Si although that's a 94 M.Y spec which would include paint I assume. The car looks blue in other shots so perhaps the same shade?

I will try and bring her to the AGM if Oct' stays warm and dry!

Thank you :cool

It Pearlescent Ski Blue which has quite a shade change - it looks almost silver on sunlit surfaces. It was a short lived colour...

I think something like Azure Blue was the nearest R8 colour.

Hoping to see you at the AGM :)

To answer your question from FB: speed locking can be removed by using PScan or T4 or by sending your Pektron BCU to Paul aka Technozen.
