Post by illegalbeast »

could not be arsed jet spraying my car the other day so (for the first time) i went through the car wash. The only proplem was i left my aeriel up (you can propbaly guess what happened) and to add insult to injury the dam thing took my rear washer spray thing off the top of my hatch!! *laughs* i have to laugh otherwise i will just get v angry.

anyway any 1 have any idea how hard it is 2 replace the aeriel ? and the plastic washer spray thing?

would much appreciate any advice

This is how i did my aeriel on my 216... Unclip it from the back of the stereo. Take the 2 screws out of the top of the black housing. While your at it take the drivers side part of your windscreen trim off. Thats the plastic part on the inside where the aeriel runs through/down.

Now all i did was pull the wire through and off it came. The hardest part will be getting the new aeriel wire through into the car. This is why i said to remove the trim. Well, just unclip it... I but some weight onto the end of the new aeriel lead to help it down. I think i used a fishing weight or summet. It was one of them jobs i knew i could do but with the trial and errors took me neally 2 hours to feed that god forsaken wire through. When i say wire i mean the part for the reception on the radio :D I think i also tried a wire coat hanger but summet happened with this and i couldnt use it in the end.

I hope someone knows a simpler way to do it as mine has seen better days and would like to change the one on my 220 now :w00t

Good luck with it. Hoping it wont be as pain forsaking for you as it was for me :thumbup1

For the rear washer jet. I would say they are just like the fronts and just clip in and clip off :S Run down the scrappy and pull, tear or even punch a few off just to see cus i havent got a clue, sorry :blushing

To change the aerial best idea is when you unplug it tie a long bit of string to the end of the cable. Unscrew the 2 screws on the roof, I think you might also have to un clip any clips on the wire between the radio and the aerial mounting too. Then pull it out allowing the cable to follow it out. When the whole thing's out you should be able to cut the string off the old wire, attatch it to the end of the wire for the new aerial and pull it through...

The areial is bitch of a job i did mine cause it wouldnt shut, so when i used to go through car washes i had to shut it in the back door *laughs*.
I tied strong string around it and it snapped so i spent about an hour feeding through by feel. washer jet any scappy make sure the tube is very well pressed on the back of the washer or it will leak in the car time you use it.

Hope this helps

it wont work i have been trying to pull it through from the aeriel outside! is it meant to be pulled through from inside? I have tied string to one end so it will pull through the new aeriel cable when i pull the old one out. The existing cabel seems to be stuck somewhere inside the car? when i pull one end it doesnt move the other on the outside if you see what i mean?
