Coupe Interior Light Problem

Post by Ed »

I'm pretty new to fixing R8 problems as my knowledge of fixing cars is mostly on my Montego but my Coupe has an interior light fault but I cannot see how they work. My Montego has an interior light switch on the inner door pillar of the door but the coupe doesn't seem to have these.

Basically, the interior light works fine when the passenger door is opened and closed but the drivers door doesn't activate it at all. Any ideas where I should start?

Cheers

They are controlled by the alarm switch on the side by memory. (C pillar?, if looking on the drivers side, the pillar on the right). I will have to go outside to doublecheck though to be 100% certain.

I am the same as you if it was a Maestro I would be 100% certain, still learning on my 200 though.

Faulty door switch. Very common nd shared by all of the 200/400/25/45/ZR/ZS cars so plenty of choice to get another from a breakers.

Held in by one screw by the door locking loop on the C pillar.

Yup, undo the screw and remove the switch. Give it a good dose of WD40 and excersise it lots and then replace. If it still doesn't work, remove and throw it in the bin and replace with another one. :D New from rover they are about 8 quid I think.
