ok this kept happening to my rear wiper fuse. Key in and turned once and it would blow.

Turned out to be a broken relay.

I dont know if it will be same for you though :unsure

As suggested try removing the starter relay. If you turn the key and the fuse doesn't go pop (ok it won't start!), you'll have a likely suspect. I think it is a normal relay so should be easy to temporarily swap with one of the others to prove whether it is the cause.

Also worth checking the wire to the starter motor (the thin one), as if it is shorting out on anything then that'll blow the fuse too.

Hi, check/remove crankshaft sensor. Replace with a new or known sensor. The sensor acts in relation to the camshaft and must be in sych. & feeds information to the ECU. If they are out of synch then problems occur! Good luck, David

Hi thanks everyone fault is now intermitent but think its the relay fitted behind the centre consol mounted on a bracket behind the cig lighter, am trying to source one without going to the rover stealer. Does anyone know where i can find the part code or obtain one at a reasonable price. Got a quote for a throttle cable today £41.00 from stealers looks like i'm going to get a secondhand one off to the scrappy again *laughs*. Thanks again will post out come as soon as i get a relay. G

Is the relay just a normal automotive relay? If so try swapping it with one from the fusebox that controls something less important!
