Hi folks, does anyone out there have any documentation/manuals/advice about fitting a whole roof (electric). I couldn't find anything on the forums that seems to fit the blll.

I have bought a complete roof and want to swap the whole lot over but I can't find any reliable sources of info. I need to know how long it should take and are there any specifics to look out for etc. I'd appreciate any help you can give!

Thanks e2jym - is that based on experience? Any ideas on where I might be able to download a technical manual. I think a roof swap was written about in detail in 'The Viking' a couple of years back. I only joined the club last year, so I don't have that copy of The Viking. If anyone has that piece available, I'd be glad to see it prior to Sunday (when I plan to do my roof swap).

Failing that, if anyone is bored and in the Harlow area on Sunday, there's a couple of beers in it for you, if you fancy putting your spanners to work!

yes i took one off my other cabriolet a few months back never done it before
iirc remove both rear trim pannels
then undo rods on parcell shelf
unbolt hydraulic rams
or take pins out at top (i swaped manual to electric at this stage)
then remove rear screen retaining bar
6 bolts 3 eitherside of roof and lift off will need 2 people to lift as roof is heavy

fitiing is reverse of removal *laughs*

Phase one of roof swap went ok, but I now have to glue the rear part of the roof to the pair of metal brackets that bolt on to the body work. Trouble is I don't know which glue to use. I've looked at evo-stick Time Bond, but it says (in tiny print) on the reverse of the can 'not to be used on vinyl'.

Had trouble getting access to the rear screen retaining bar, there's a big thick rubber seal in the way!

Any ideas on removing the retaining bar or which glue to use?

quick update - got the retaining bar off (after reading a separate thread on here) and now the only thing stopping me putting it all back together is what type of glue to use for gluing the canvas to the two metal bars that bolt on to the body.

As it's a sunny bank holiday (for a change), I expect most of you rover/cabbie owners on here to be out enjoying the weather. If anyone has any advice about the glue, I'd appreciate it

update number 3 - I've lost the will to live with the roof. Managed to get all the rusted parts rubbed down and re-painted with Hammerite.

Went outside to install them on the car and the ****ing roof has decided it doesn't want to fold back into the down position (or fold even a little bit for that matter) to allow the slack necessary to install the rear window section onto to retaining bar.
Rather than take a hammer to it, I've calmly put all the tools away and covered it with some plastic to keep the rain off.
So I either need a sympathetic local cabriolet owner to give me a hand or someone to make me an offer for the whole car.

sorry to hear about your troubles, there has to be a mechanical reason why your roof wont fold, as for glues, try evo stick? you may find going to your local hobbycraft useful, as they have a wide range for glues, (i am also thinking gorrila glue white, sets like rock, in 15mins,
