Decent garage/mechanic in South London area for cambelt etc?

Post by Deev »

Hi all,

I've been planning on getting Russell from MG Rover Solutions to change the cambelt on my Tourer for a while now but a combination of life and Russell's manic schedule have kept getting in the way... Unfortunately now the situation has been forced as (I think... hope... pray...!) the water pump has started leaking (quite a constant drip drip drip from the bottom of the cambelt cover area by the water pump). Whilst I really want Russell to do the work given his glowing recommendations, I'm also aware that he's a busy man and I really need the car sorting for a long run I've got planned in 3-4 weeks time so I'm open to other suggestions. I've left Russell a message but I need a backup plan if he doesn't get back to me in time! Any recommendations for a mechanic that will do a decent job and not fleece me for it? The car does drive so I can probably get it to anywhere reasonably close in London although obviously I want to drive it the absolute minimum possible!

Have you tried looking on Honest John website, I think he has a list of good garages?
