R8 A/C
Hi, given the 'interesting' weather recently, I'm curious as to whether anyone has had success adding A/C to a K-Series R8? I imagine it's too much hassle to be worth it, but curious.
Re: R8 A/C
I'm fitting it to a K-series R3 and that's difficult enough!
It'd be easier to buy an R8 216, an R3 or HH-R with it already fitted, believe me
Was A/C offered even as an option on K-series R8s?
It's cost over £700 in new/second-hand/reconditioned parts already and they're getting scarce or are NLA...

It was offered on some, but would appear to be rare enough. I suspected it'd be a bit awkward anyway, especially on a budget. Looks like the sunroof will have to do.

Offered as an option on the 214Si and SLi. Dig deep as it was a £1,105 option in 1994; £1,882 adjusted for inflation today!
I’d love it fitted to my SEi-not strictly correct as it was never available as an option, but it would be a nice thing to have.

I've done it on a VVC Coupe. Technically, its easy enough. Finding the right parts will be the challenge.

I had Aircon on a 1994 R8 414. It was a left hand drive Saudi Arabia market car (complete with leather interior) that I bought when I relocated to Spain for my job.
The aircon was amazing - on a humid day we had clouds coming out of the dashboard vents. I was worried that the 1.4 engine might struggle with the extra load but it was absolutely fine.

The engine back is almost identical to a ROVER 25 (MG ZR), find a scrapper or raid a scrappy.
I stripped out the system from a ROVER 25 for my Cabby, I cross-referenced all the pipes and parts from RIMMER Bros,
90% is the same, I am running a K-Series though, Honda or Diesel is a different matter.

We had Aircon on a LHD 1994 model 414 (Saudi Arabia market spec). It was very, very effective
