or is looking for 200 parts seriously infuriating?

It seems like every search I do brings up hundreds of parts for Land Rovers or Range Rovers unless I am really, really specific. I'm not after anything in particular (yet) but just trying to browse seems to be a nightmare - and I do like a browse!

It's not so bad when people have tagged the title with R8, etc but man, even then, I did have a look for a wing but the first fifty listings were either mirror housings or the glass and after scrolling through all those what would you know but there are some wings listed. The 'best match' algorithm leaves a lot to be desired.

when doing your search, you need tell it not to look for larnd rover or range rover parts.

If this is of any help, you can cut and paste the following into 'enter keywords or item number' -

rover 216 -213 -MGZR -ZR -Mk1 -HID -LED -Bubble -haynes -land -Cover -Covers -Brake -Brakes -Clutch

Scroll down and check Located In - United Kingdom

and scroll down to near the bottom of the search screen in the Sellers section click Specific Sellers and choose Exclude then paste in the following sellers -

onLine-automotive-01604666170,carpartsinmotion,cvpartsinmotion,mechanics-choice,autominute15,mr-wiper

Then click on the 'Search' button.

When you've checked the items from that search go back to the top of the list and click on 'Advanced Search', put a "-" directly before the 216 and insert in front of that '200' and search again.

rover 200 -216 -213 -MGZR -ZR -Mk1 -HID -LED -Bubble -haynes -land -Cover -Covers -Brake -Brakes -Clutch

rover 214 -200 -216 -213 -MGZR -ZR -Mk1 -HID -LED -Bubble -haynes -land -Cover -Covers -Brake -Brakes -Clutch

etc. (416, 420,400, T-Series, whatever else might bring up what you're looking for.

The above options will omit some sellers that list hundreds of the same part in a go making it difficult to find what you're looking for. I'm only interested in R8 parts and I'm not looking for clutch parts, brake parts, headlamp bulbs, manuals, - hence the extra minuses at the end.

After you have done the searches you want for the first time you can repeat them regularly and select 'Sort by' - 'Newly Listed'. That way you only need to scroll down to the last date you checked to see all the new listings added since last time you looked.

Once you've done your first search you should find that just typing in "R" in the search box will give you a dropdown list of the searches you've done beginning with R and you can just select it, rather than typing it all in again.

By the way, I don't exclude the word "Range" because the occasional listing uses the combination of "Rover 200 range" somewhere in the title, but it does mean that you will get a few inappropriate Range Rover hits. It's up to you if you want to put -range in or not.

This drives me mad, I work for a company that list a lot of kit on eBay and the hoops we have to jump through regarding listing practices is mental. It's made worse by people who do this as it is against eBay rules yet searches get flooded with keyword spammers list 1000 bulbs or LED tat that inevitably won't fit as they have just dumped any old make/model in the title.

My favourite was last year I vas looking for some service bits and came accross a listing for some very fectching door graphics - for a Suziki Bandit!
I almost ordered a set just so I could return them at the sellers cost when they didn't fit due to my motorcycle NOT HAVING DOORS.
