Tailgate Harness YMN000810

Post by defenderman »

Hello out there, late 2004 Rover 25 facelift, can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement tailgate harness either second hand or new there seems to be a total lack of this item anywhere. Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks 👍

You are unlikely to be able to find a new one. The loom usually fails near the tailgate hinge. You can usually pull away the rubber sleeve and carry out a repair on the broken cables.

Hi montegoman, thanks for the reply, yes I've managed to repair the existing harness but I thought it would be a good idea to get a spare one incase of a second failure, I suppose a trudge around some salvage yards is the answer.
I wonder who's got the original harness drawings issued to the OEM supplier?

Talk to Motaclan - they have several different variants available.

And there's a club members discount available too :cool

There's a 'how to fit' article in a recent Viking mag :angel

I wouldn't bother with a breaker's yard - they'll all be just as bad as what you have.

A repair using soldered joints, heat shrink and lengthening the harness slightly is the way forward!
