681 Radio/Cassette

Post by BlairHobson »

I have the above in my Concerto. Up until now I've never used it but having recently got a cassette I'd like to try it. I pushed the on/off button and a light came on behind the large volume button but the display didn't light up and the cassette didn't play however much i pressed the mode button. Do I have to key in the code before the display lights up or is it knackered?

It should come up with a C if you need to input the code. Does the radio work?

No sound at all, just the back light behind the volume button.

If it is not showing anything on the display, I would guess that the display has failed. It should show a C if it is asking for the code to be inputted.

I suppose it could be possible that it is asking for the code but because the display has failed you can't see the -C-. If you know the code, it is probably worth trying to enter it and see if that is the problem.

Yes, I thought that as well, so tried it, but it didn't work! Knackered is I think the phrase!

Right, took the radio, an R652, out of the 216 that's off the road and stuck it in the Honda. Bingo! The lights come on and I get the - C - on the display. Trouble is i have no code!

I'm intrigued as you said you didn't have the radio code; how did you then manage to get it to work?

The Seekers get a big thumbs up from me! 🙂

I won't object to them. I'm just about old enough to remember seeing their last concert on the tv.

If you're unlucky, might see you again......provided I don't drop off!
