Bumper Rubber strip clean up

Post by Plodder »

Anybody got any tips on how to clean or blacken the rubber strips on my bumpers. I think they are discoloured with polish. Tried using Auto Glyn Vinyl and Rubber care spray but it doesn't really get rid of the white marks.
Anyone found a successful solution?

Have you tried CarPlan black trim wax? Wear gloves or you will end up with black hands!

Thanks for all the recommendations.
Will have a look through all the products suggested and perhaps trial one or two.
I'll even try doing half the trim so I can photo before and after treatment .
Thanks again

According to an internet search, you can do it using a Pencil Eraser. There's a YouTube video showing it seems to work, some positive comments agreeing on its efficacy but one-or-two saying it didn't work for them. Haven't tried it myself but I will.

That has to be worth a go before spending any money. Even a combination of the pencil eraser to remove the build up of polish and then a treatment to bring out the colour is worth a try. :clapping
