I'm contemplating the renovation/restoration of my 216 GTi three door in flame red. This will cost more than it's worth especially when [if] I get around to paint.

I'm just wondering how many three doors are still around? There have been a couple for sale this year a white and a green one, there was a green Sei for sale a few years ago in tempest grey and JohnDQ has a race car I believe.
Has anybody else seen a three door R8 recently please?

They are certainly rare. I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road.

I have 3, all of which I intend to restore in the short to medium term, time and energy permitting!

We have two in the family: my Tahiti Blue 220 GSi Turbo (on the road) and my wife has a white 216 GTi Twin Cam in long term storage.

I've got four three doors currently after selling a few (214 Sprint, 216 GTI Twim cam, old Dunlop race car) I don't know where your based but if you're interested I've got an old three door shell which was being built as a race car. I brought it four years ago as an unfinished project only because it still had all the Rover sport race car parts in boxes. I've never done anything with the shell and to be honest it's in the way now so if you wanted it for free to use as cuts for yours? Based in Bedford
