An amazing day at POL on Saturday.
370 mile round trip with no issues.
Managed around 43 mpg on the way up, which is amazing for a 34 year old car with auto transmission.
Haven’t topped up to see what it did on the return journey. Was lovely to have a steering wheel that was straight after having the tracking done.
The car did seem a bit tail happy in the inside lane with the lorry tracks so I’m thinking the trailing arm bushes have seen their best. Either that or the tyres have had it.

I spotted this at POL this year, and it stood out for me as one of my favourites.

Great looking car and it looked in fantastic condition. Well done :clapping

Thanks for the positive comments. Probably saw your coupe there without realising it.
It certainly is a labour of love. But one I wouldn't be without.
I'm hoping that most of the future work will now be about enhancing it further.
Lots of plans for the work just fitting it around family life.

Small update for the summer’s tinkering.
After fitting the new electric window mechanism earlier on in the year it has taken me a bit longer than anticipated to refit the door card, mainly because I threw away the plastic membrane during a garage tidy up and had to spend a bit of time getting the replacement sorted . But all done now.

Image

Both handles and rubbing strips on the drivers side doors have lost their colour over the years - the nearside parts are fine
I acquired what appear to be new old stock door handle and rubbing strip for the rear off-side door at a good price .
So I have fitted these as well

End result looks pretty good .

I’ve also waxed the inside of the door which I thought was done when I had the car rustproofed back 2022 but clearly wasn't so I'll do the other doors as well

So all done.

Also managed to clean up the rubber strip on the rear bumper that had got discoloured from polish over the years using a pencil rubber and Auto Glyn Trim Restorer.

Image Image

Acquired a new walnut strip for the dash. Been kept in a garage for 20 plus years so looks like new and has a better gloss finish than the original that I spent months trying to get a good finish on

Image

Also acquired a bonnet with no dents so I now have the option to either have the existing bonnet dents sorted and the bonnet resprayed or just having the replacement resprayed.

Over the winter I'll do the trailing arm bushes, whilst it passed it's MOT with no advisories they are over 16 years old and the nearside one is showing a few splits and cracks.

Have managed few more car shows this year with an increased number of Rovers.

On Sunday the local car show had 3 400's (R8) and a coupe .

Does anyone have any more of the small club business cards as I have used my stock up over the last year?

Thanks for looking
