Rover 200 & 400 Owners Club - Cabriolet towbar and Engine idling unevenly

I've got a couple of questions if anyone can help
1. what towbars fit my Rover200 Cabriolet will the 400 wedge shape fit?
2. I noticed that after starting the car the fan would kick in randomly a few times whilst it warmed up I never bothered much with it as it didn't affect anything but recently instead of the fan kicking in the engine suddenly starts fast idling (or the fan may still be kicking in and I can't hear it)

The 400 towbar possibly won't fit as the back end of the cabrio is shorter.

I would imagine that a 200 one would fit - our cabrio has a genuine Rover towbar fitted (complete with plug-in wiring and detachable tow ball). It was on the car when we got it, so i don't know the details - but I'll try to remember to take a look and see if there is a part number on there to cross-refer.

We have a 200 towbar in the for sale section of the forum. Where abouts are you as it is a bit heavy to post at a reasonable price.

Rover part number: KNB 100 150

thanks for that I'll see what I can find out about the part number KNB100150 maybe it's a common part with other models.

I know this is a cheek but if you get chance could you take a digital photo of where it fixes

There's a good chance your coolant temp sensor is faulty. That would cause the fan to be irractic and would hold the idle speed high

I have yesterday fitted a towbar to my Cab. I used the standard hatchback version but the holes didnt line up however, it was a witter one and the corrct one (I checkedd) so I drilled new holes which in fairness made more sense with their location. Its the hardest towbar I have done yet though.
