hello all. Ever sence i bought my rover 414 Si it had always had a hidden leak. so i always keep water with my and top it up every now and then, though 3 times i forgot to replace the water colant bottle lid and this ended in the loss of the whole bottle (i was sat in macies drive though with a copper in fount of me and steam venting from the engine! *laughs*) i topped it up yesterday after i lost all that water, and came to it today at 12 and the water bottle was empty! could it be air locks? were is this water going? with summer aproaching i need to fix this!

the water pump? were is it located? under the powersteiring pump?
also is there anyway i can check to see if the rad fan is working?

P.s were is the Rad bung located ?

What does the oil look like? If its got oil in it (mayonaise type look to it) then the headgasket has gone. If not then check the inlet manifold gasket as they can leak too.
