Family has only ever had british cars. We have a Triumph Stag and GT6, Dad drives a 200 bubble during the week, mum has a mk2 75 and I have the coupe.

Neighbour had a VVC coupe and always wanted one from that point. Soon as I passed my test I just hung on to my money until I could get insurance and when I was 21 I went out and bought my first car, a 220 coupe :D Not quite what I was after cos I wanted the VVC, but the nasp proved to be cheaper to buy and insure!

I remember seeing Chris Gofey driving a Poly Blue coupe turbo on the Motor Show special. Since then always wanted one in Tahti Blue.

Have always liked the Rover 200 ..... and when I came to buying my rally car I wanted something different from the rest. So when my current car came along, and with the history and the amount spent ... and the price I thought it was a great idea .... and it has been brilliant, hard as nails and very quick .... top car!

Seems like its inherited :*laughs*:

First car I remember my dad having was a 1969 Rover 2000 (P6) loved that car to bits until it was re-arranged by a DS Citroen and a bus  Few other cars came and went, then in 87 dad bought a 820 Se and I was hooked, not long after I passed my test and would relish grabbing the keys whenever I could. On retiring he bought a 214 SLi, when he eventually bought a new car (25) he gave the 214 to us, that was my first R8, but have had several since, along with every model Rover have produced from the P5 to 800 oh and we've now got the 25 :D

Austin Rover has been in my blood since a very young age, when I was a kid family had a variety of cars ranging from rover 2000's to Triumph Sprints.

In my teens I went down the bike route and didn't pass my car test til I was in my mid twenties, first car was an MG Maestro 2.0i, didn't get to know it that well as I didn't have it that long.

Had a brief encounter with Ford and didn't like the car a lot, anything that sounds like a baked bean tin when you shut the door has to be avoided (I took a test drive in a Puma a few years back and that was the same).

Then seeing as I was working for a company that made alloys for Rover I bought a 216GTi in the colour of the one on the head of this forum, hated the std alloys so acquired a new set of coupe turbo ones off the production line that made it look a lot nicer.

Traded that for the coupe 4yrs ago, best description is that my relationship with the coupe is a bit rocky but its here to stay, love the drive and the timeless looks of it.

I first got into Rovers when i left school and became an apprentice mechanic at my local Rover dealership in Manchester. After i passed my test i got a clapped out 1.3 MK1 Fiesta i was on £40 a week :( .
As the years passed and i became more confident and got my no claim bonus up and a rise :P i finally got a rover 220GSi.
I really like the shape of the Rover 200/400's and there mechanics. To be honest i don't really like the Mk3's.

Sadly i left rover after 6 years. I was very sad :( BMW had just taken over. They were sending me all over the country on course's for the new 75 range and the new diesel engines, security, transmissions and lots more. I passed all my courses and was upgraded to an MG
mechanic working on the old MGF's. I didn't like the way rover was
going and are new boss BMW so i felt :(

I now work in a office in Manchester as a manager :( . Sat on my rear end all day. I've forgot most of the things i learnt over the years at rover. but i feel privileged to have worked for Rover before all the trouble. I like nothing better than working on my 3 Rovers :D

Sorry that was abit long winded

Well if everyone else has given a brief history I suppose I should too!!

First car I remember my dad having was a red Montego 2.0GSi estate
(fastest production estate car in the world when it was launched!) which went on for ever. I loved it, the rear facing seats in the boot were my favourite place to be when I was a kid. Mum always had Metros, her last one being a white MG 1.3.

We then had an R8 214Si for a bit, then a 216 GTi 5 door in BRG with 1/2 leather. Head gasket trouble forced us to get a newer shape 416i, which we still have, and then we got another one!

I've always had minis since i passed my test but i bought a 414SLi last year as a more reliable run around. That car was great, all my mates took the p*ss but it could stay on the tail of all the saxo VTR's in the area!

Then I saw the coupe I have now for sale and had to have it. Sold the 414 (for a profit!!!) and bought the '96 BRG 1.6 coupe. Even though the 'box has broken I'm absolutely smitten with it.
I love my new coupe!!
