Hi, I used to own an H plate 416 auto Rover, the Honda engined one which has just developed a fault, which our neighbours have been using for a year now It suddenly stopped for no reason when they were driving it.She called the recovery service who found no spark at the plugs ,after spraying a bit of WD40 round and checking some fuse it started again .He followed my them home to do the paperwork so she tried making sure everything was working and turning on the headlights made the engine stop.
I've just been out to check it this morning and it started immediately but as soon as I turned the headlights on it stopped. I've checked and there is no spark at the plugs. Does anyone have any idea how this could be happening ? I don't have a manual to be able to check the wiring circuit and wondered if this was a problem anyone had experienced before.?
Many thanks.
Rover 416 keeps dying ?
Re: Rover 416 keeps dying ?
main honda engine fault is the igniter unit inside the dizzy cap or it could be the alternator
Re: Rover 416 keeps dying ?
Check the earth lead to the slam panel as it commonly corrodes/breaks.
If that is ok, then the igniter inside the distributor is a common failure on the honda engines giving no spark.
