Engine Conversions...

Post by dan290888 »

I am toying with the idea of an engine conversion to get a little more power?

I have a 214 sei R8 and im thinking probably the honda engine from a 216 or a 1.8vvc from a coupe?

whats involved and what engines are recommended?

Also I understand I will need to upgrade brakes and suspension... any suggestions on that?

Also how does this affect insurance?

Thanks

Dan

Sticking with a Rover engine is best, as the Honda engine is back to front so welding engine mounts would be required.

I use my coupe as a family car and i get on fine but the mrs used to get a bit annoyed with it on occasion. If you have a car seat with a large base they dont fit to well on the base of the back seat due to them being like a bucket seat but a booster seat fits o.k. A pram wont fit in the boot either but a pushchair will. Now my sons a little older its not an issue. He loves the car as much as i do.

The recaro looks like it curves in at the bottom so you may be fine. It might be an idea to take the seat with you and just try it in. One seat i had sat lopsided because of the way the coupe seat is so i didnt like to use it.
