Reversing Camera - The Verdict

Post by xanadu »

Right, I spent some time on saturday morning, reading the instructions and then installing the camera. I won't bore you with the details of the installation, needless to say it was pretty simple once I dug out my trusty haynes to find the wire colour for the reversing lamp (green/brown if anyone is interested *laughs*)

Once it was in and installed it was tested first in my drive and then out and about. It got a little getting used to, but if you have the display next to the mirror it is very good.

You get a kind of fish bowl experience to give it the all around experience, but the coverage is very good. I imagine for a complete system you would benefit from reversing sensors as well.

After getting used to it, I had no problems in reversing out of carparks, and getting back into my driveway was a complete breeze. The good thing about the wireless system is that if you sell the car then just remove the camera, seal the hole again and no-one will ever know it was there and you can put it in the new car

I am now quite pleased I spent the money on it, I was a little concerned it was a waste of money but after using it, it is really cool.

I should add as well, I used it when it was dark and then the camera really came into its own, I could see more than normally could on the camera.

Well thats my own little opinion. :)

Think I might fit one too, now I know they are OK. :wink3 Did you have any trouble routing the camera wire through the bootlid join?
Kind Regards

That part was interesting to say the least. The wire was too large to fit in the rubber hose, so at present I wrapped the wire round the hose. This had benefited it as well, cos now the hose has stopped being trapped when I close the boot *laughs*.

everything else was virtually plain sailing

After some more investigation, there are several on ebay that are the same system for about 10-20 quid less

Its still a little bit Alien, but very good. People I have shown it to (family not random strangers) have been impressed by the quality on it.

I don't use her during the week very often, I have a different car for during the week trolling to work and back *laughs*
