ok folks, I'l keep this thread for the inside of the vehicle, and my other one for the mechanical areas, saves getting the two mixed up.

so, here's a quick update with some photos of what I've been doing to the inside of the car so far.

Sound proofing>

Doors, one done, awaiting more supplies!

There is between 4-5 layers of sound deadening throughout the car except the doors at the moment.

The next stage here is foam insulation.
This stuff is very cool indeed, its flame retardant ,an acoustic barrier and is self adhesive and very easy to manage.
I'm using this to replace the original foam floor insulation, and will them add another layer of thinner foam as a backing ready for the carpet.

Front floor and inner bulkhead covering:

you can see the thickness here:

Part 2 of foam insulation covering:

making sure surfaces are clean and free of any rubbish:

And there we are, up to date on whats going on there.

as I say, i'l keep posting here for the interior of the car and any updates accordingly.

sorry for long post!

Update:

Alrighty, a little more progress today, took a few cables up to the car today as they'l be ready to go in soon, meanwhile I've continued with more work to the drivers foot well, added 3 layers of soundproofing, and also added the insulating foam too, forgot to take picture of the foam sorry!

after ( without foam!)

Also finished one of the rear doors:

Front seats have been collected today, taken away to be recovered by a professional upholsterer so I'm really looking forward to seeing those when they get back. :D :D :D :D

Meanwhile, I have new front engine mounts on the way :) and a replacement 100ah alternator and the charge from which will be split , one going to the primary starting battery, and the secondary going to separate split charge relays to charge up the 2 additional batteries, one for the lighting , screens and low current devices, and the other battery will receive a charge purely for the sound system , amps ( 6 of so far), and a 5 channel active crossover, each system drawing hopefully less than 100amps as that's the limit on each relay.
wirings going to be fun!!!!

Got some prices on the Mdf the other day, its going to cost me £140.00 just for the sub box to be built, 2" thick all the way round, I don't expect a lot of flex coming from the box structure as I'l brace it too,I also think that given the weight of the box alone, I'm now seriously considering reinforcing the rear suspension by using towing spring assister's , a thick rubber wedge that gets wound in between the springs to stop them from compressing too much. All of the amps will be located in the boot, alongside the 2 batteries, add to this the structure needed and cables, foam, soundproofing , leatherette etc etc , and the weight soon accumulates!.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get more done, I need to get the power tools out and find my grinder. My exhaust was starting to get on my nerves, I've been trying to remove the exhaust manifold, but to do so requires the removal of the down pipe's to the cat, and in one of Rover's ingenious designs, considering the bolts are exposed to the elements somewhat, they decided to put one bolt, virtually inaccessible, right on the curve of the exhaust. :slapme
, so as it's not playing ball I'l cut the awkward sod off instead !, and it's only £45 for a replacement, least I'l be able to wrap it this time to protect it from this situation happening again.
Such a cack handed idea, but such is life!

Took a few more parts down to get powder coated too, so in time, finished parts should start to come back over the next few weeks and I can start to really see some major progress.

Times ticking on......

update:

I've decided to purchase some Limo Black window tint film, this is to be used on the rear doors, and quarter windows and should give some security and privacy to the rear of the car when the doors are closed, it will also blend in with the black trim around the windows.

I'm expecting it through any time soon, so while I've got easy access to the rear glass , nows the time to do it.
I'm going to remove the rear door glass and do the tinting indoors to save any random wind etc kicking up rubbish during the process!, fortunately they're real easy to remove :clapping

ps : was told today that I'l get an advisory on the MOT for not having rear seats and seatbelts!!, even though they can't test them of their not there!, DAMN! :cursing :cursing

wouldnt of thought there would be a problem as far as the mot is concerned. several mates have had no issues in the past with the seats removed. but if you do get an advisory it dont really matter as long as they dont fail it.

Yeah, thats exactly what I thought.

I was told that there would be nothing stopping me from mot'ing it , then replace the rear seats and sell it on with a full valid mot, err, like thats going to happen anytime soon!!!!!!!! :*laughs* :*laughs* :*laughs* :*laughs*

update:

Whilst I'm doing various bits around the car I've managed to get another door soundproofed, only the front 2 doors to do after, than that should be all of it.

Removing all the rubbish that was there before, alongside a load of black silicon sealant of something, either way it wasn't the easiest of stuff to remove:

Update:

Thought I'd show a quick pic or 2 of my subs!,

...and onto some of the cabling, I'm pretty much just sorting through some at the moment, and locating it where I can, I will have to wait before locating it permanently as I have some nice ideas I'd like to apply before the cables are secured. Time was getting on tonight, hence the late pictures, I'l try and get some better ones tomorrow all being well.

Image

Image

Here you can see I've used the blower pipes to route the cable through the under seat strut.
I didn't want to go over as this would cause a ripple in the final carpet so I decided to use what was already there!
