Hello everybody

I was wondering if some of you use a tester or a diagnostic equipment to check your rovers r8 errors and warnings.

Id like to get one but the (3-pin) round connector doesnt fix in the usual multibrand OBDII diagnostic testers.

What have you done to solve this problem?? Do you use a tester or you just connect the cable to a computer where u have installed a rover diagnostic software??? The second option would be the best one, the problem would be to get that software of course.

By the way, how many connectors does your rover have?? I think mine just have one... but i found on internet this picture where it has two.. and it said... "The green is the diagnosis socket and the white is the diagnostic connector for the MEMS engine management unit" I thought diangosis socket was to control MEMS :

On Honda engined cars the ECU can be interrogated by looking at the codes being flashed on the ECU.

The green one is used to diagnose the burgler alarm / security system, e.g. to code a new fob (3TXA) to the vehicle.

I'm afraid the rover isn't OBD compliant so you'll need proper test equipment to interrogate the ECU (testbook).

My car is a 214 SLi with alarm and fob but it just has one connector

Well.. I found this on internet.. I dont know whats the function of the small black connector or where should it be connected but I think it is not very important.




The OBDII could be connected to a tester or to another cable like this, with usb connector.. for be conected to a computer with a Rover software

The MEMS ECU is fitted to the Rover K Series engines, not the Honda D16, if this is of any help.

The small black connector should be connected to 12v battery.
The OE Microcheck and Testbook connectors have to be connected to 12V.

Maybe your XW has the IR Fob?
