Problems

Post by jalopyjoe »

Having got all smug about my MOT pass, a couple of small problems have cropped up.
Firstly the intermittent wipe, wiper parking and flick wipe have all started playing up, I'm guessing a relay problem, anyone got any ideas?

Secondly, the alarm has started going off at random times for no apparent reason, it is only the basic version which should only go off if someone breaks into the car, again, any ideas?

Check that the switches on the left hand side as you step into the car through the door aren't broken. These are a common fault for making the alarm going off.

Good news is they are common across the rover range.

The alarm is most like a faulty door switch. Remove them and give them a good excersise and dose of WD40 or similar. If any fail to work after that then a replacement will be needed.

For the wiper I'm not totally sure. I'd change the relay and see how it goes. It could be the motor or its electrical connections so check the plug to make sure it doesn't have water in it.
