no heater

problem is engine temp gauge reads hot heater blows cold.

car ran normaly for 160 miles then gauge went up n heater blew cold i
im thinking thremostat

car is 1.6 honda engined auto
fiat 500 lounge 1.2 dualogic BF63TXS

ive changed thermostat & its still the same.

due to go to blackpool monday so ill overall cooling system when i get bk

new water pump ect & itl give me chance to change timing belt at 54000k its more than due & if head gasket needs to be done ill do that aswell mite even write an article for club mag

meanwhile if anyone has any ideas
my bro will check for replys.

Hi,

I don't know too much about the honda engines, but I know on our old diesel when the heater ran cold whilst the engine was warm it indicated head gasket failure (may not be the case for the honda).

If you do change it an article for the club magazine would be fantastic. :)

Check the simple things first. There is a valve that controls the flow of hot water into the heater matrix. It is controlled by a little wire that is connected to the knob in the car. Check that the valve is still opening and closing and that the wire is still attached.

work has started on fixing problem ive removed radiator, n hoses cam cover & manifold head will be off next.

work thats being done
new rad
timing belt
head gasket & assoiated gaskets, seals ect

compleat headset off ebay 30.00 plus 10 postage :D
itl also have new oil n filter & service

an article will be writen for magazine

looking at about a week with cleaning & painting of bits n bobs

looking fward to many miles of happy motoring :clapping

wish it was

was loosing water no external leaks

steam from exhaust

romoval of cam cover confirmed head gasket gone
milky sludge in cover.


if cam covers sludgey sumps gota be cacked in it il take it oiff aswel &| clean

ive started a write up so ul alll be reading in club mag

ive now done 850 miles since changing headgasket a job wel done ive sent article to mag reletivly straight fward job runs a lot better aswell
