Re: Speaker fitment?
The steel ruler in one of my photographs shows them as 167mm rim to rim - that's 6.57" to be precise. 6.5" fit with a tiny gap all the way round.
Like the idea of using the mirror backs to mount tweeters. I'd just do a HF boost with the piezo ones and perhaps a wire-wound pot to alter the level/boost. I don't much fancy a full component system with crossovers and all. Problem is - piezo tweeters aren't as common as they used to be - they used to be all the rage but they seem a bit thin on the ground when I look at Ebay or car audio places online.
The rears could be replaced by making a new MDF parcel shelf and covering it to look nice. Some nice 8" units or some 6" x 9" elliptical ones perhaps.

Great thread, will come in handy if I upgrade the speakers, the factory ones are still working fine though.

They might be working fine, but you can get a better sound and for not much money either...ROVER-25X wrote:Great thread, will come in handy if I upgrade the speakers, the factory ones are still working fine though.

On a cabby down the motorway you need headphones not speakers *laughs*.

Well I tell you what. Just for you, I'll start working on noise-cancelling to get the cabin a bit quieter for you. I can't promise it will work with the hood down though - deriving anti-noise for all cars on the M25 simultaneously might be a bit trickyROVER-25X wrote:On a cabby down the motorway you need headphones not speakers *laughs*.

I actually have one already made. Needs recovering and new speakers (Think they are 8 inch ones in it at the moment!)Johnny 216GSi wrote:The steel ruler in one of my photographs shows them as 167mm rim to rim - that's 6.57" to be precise. 6.5" fit with a tiny gap all the way round.

Needs a good home..........

Ooops forgot to include the link in my post above. This is the tweeters on the mirror backs.

Re: Speaker fitment?
You can also go the extra mile and put some sound proofing on the outside
