Newbie from the Netherlands 416 Tourer and now a Cabriolet

Post by KeesB »

Hi all,

I am new here and have just bought my first 416 Tourer. Not that I am new to Rover because I have owned a 216 Cabriolet, a 216 bubble, two 820´s, a MG ZR and that are the modern ones. I still have two Rovers P6, two Austin Maxi´s and a Mini Van.
The Tourer is my daily drive. It is from 1998 and has done 121.000 km.

I'd been wondering about the reach of R8 appreciation outside the UK. Wonder when we'll get our first Japanese member?

Nice alloys. Can't quite see from the angle, but they look unusual. Not sure I've seen them before.

I reckon they were a special for the continent. I'm sure I've heard someone say they did wide-wheel options specifically for some of the EU countries where they would sell.

They're 15" turbo alloys and are the same width as the other 15s.

Also fitted to the 216SE Coupe I believe.

In which case, they're the picture below I believe. The ones in the OP's post look somehow flatter across the outside face - it threw me a bit. But the inner rim markings are the same, and they're 6-spokes, so the most obvious answer is probably the correct one.

Thank you all for the welcome.

Johnny 216GSi is right about the type of wheel :clapping , but I am not sure if the wheels aren´t a later addition by a former owner.

What would be the correct tyre size for these wheels on this car?
On the front it has 195/50/R15 and on the rear 195/55/R15.

All I know is the steel wheels that would have been fitted - 175/65/HR14.

I can't remember the alloy sizes but they were 14" on the earlier cars and 15" on the later models.

According to our earlier discussion here: http://www.rover200.org.uk/forums/viewt ... +55#p55698

...the larger alloys were 185/55/R15 and 195/50/R15. The 14" I can't remember off hand what they were.
