Hallo Everybody, I've picked up my 1997 414 from the workshop where it has been serviced after purchasing it in less-than-optimal shape.
When I've purchased it, the alarm didn't work at all, but the central locking did work. The LED next to the locking pin was dead.
Now something has changed. The LED next to the pin sometimes is solid red, even while driving, and the central locking doesn't work. If I lock the driver's door (both from the outside with the key, and from the inside by pushing the pin down) the central locking locks all the doors, but few seconds after the driver's side pin goes up again and the system releases all the doors.
I've checked, and all the doors are properly shut. All locks seem to work fine (they properly lock each door) and the latches don't seem to be jammed.
As of now I've removed the central locking fuse, or I would have no way to lock my car. Do you have any hint on what could have gone wrong?
The garage wasn't supposed to work on the alarm.
Second question: I have read about the immobilizer code on my Haynes manual. The istant I've read it, I've recalled getting the unlock code card with my first rover 414, when I did got delivery of it as new.
No code has been provided by the previous owner of this example, of course. Is there a way to reset the code, or to find the original code of my vehicle?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Central locking not working -> alarm?
The change in fault status might be due to the garage disconnecting the battery?
220GSI Turbo talk's about the sensors in the door locks, perhaps one is faulty and that is causing the ECU to unlock the doors?

As for the battery, it could as well be the other way around.
When I collected the car, the battery was totally flat. I hat to jumpstart it every time during my trip back home (thanks, Clarke micro booster).
And the central locking was working at the time.
The garage has recharged the battery, so I don't have to jumpstart it anymore. But I have no central locking
As for the sensor, It doesn't explain why it did work 2 weeks ago...

Re: Central locking not working -> alarm?
I could get the EKA code but it wouldn't solve your other issues.
The door lock popping back up again a couple of seconds after it is locked is a fault with the locking mechanism/actuator or door switch.
I've also seen this happen when the rod that's connected to the lock pin you can see above the doorcard becomes jammed/stiff.
Cheapest and easiest thing to try first is strip the doorcard off and check the condition.
