I ran out of power steering fluid yesterday - although I saved some when disconnected the pipes most of it was used to turn the drive into a skating rink. Some was procured from Halfords this morning and reservoir topped up, seems to have stopped the rack groaning now which is good.

Down pipe is definitely vibrating against the subframe/crossmember thing so that's annoying and will need sorting asap.

My manifold to downpipe gasket has been blowing for 2 years, too lazy to fix it.

I sounds like mine is still blowing somewhere, its only minor and I'm not crawling underneath again until the weather has seriously improved! I've got less than 2 months until the London to Brighton Mini run and a huge list of things to do before I can even MOT it....blowing exhausts can wait.

Bolts are at silly angles so will wait for warmer climates.

As above, bit of tinkering, headlamp should be easy enough to fix, CV gaiters are a pain in the bum but if
you have to replace the rear shoes, tinker with the handbrake cable etc you could throw it up on axel stands
and do the whole lot, always set up a fix it day if you want folks of here to lend a hand.

Brakes should be easy to sort, headlamp I need to drill out the broken bolts and replace them.

I'm hoping emissions is just the cat I put on when changing the exhaust, I need to get the bolts off the one that was on the car and refit that, I think its better quality. I'll chuck some redex in, new spark plugs and make sure my wife gets everything nice and warm on the drive to the MOT centre!

If I can get the CV joint off the driveshaft that will save having to mess around with gearbox oil, but it's unlikely to go that well

The last time I had to replace a CV gaiter, I cheated and used one that is designed to stretch over the CV joint using a cone. I bought a pair, which is just as well as the first one split quite spectacularly (possibly not enough lube or left stretched for too long on the cone). It's a bit of a wrestle, because the driveshaft wriggles around as you are trying to force the gaiter over the cone and you have to cut the gaiter down to fit properly afterwards, but it worked very successfully in the end for me. Not the purest of solutions, but it's keeping the dirt out and the grease in and in the end, that's all you can ask for.
