This is a cracking magazine: I bought the first issue and will be heading off to the newsagents for the latest one.

I guess the winner of the front cover 'shoot out' would have to be the 75/ZT, as it will always be easier to fix a cooked engine than it will be to replace rotten metalwork

But I would still take the X-Type
(My wife still hasn't fully forgiven me for trading in the one we had for an Alfa Romeo!)

From what I've heard, the X-Type rust proofing is pretty poor - esp. around the sills. But then these days, even Mercs have a very bad reputation with those that work in the repair industry...

Daughters x type (an offer they couldn't refuse) has plastic covers over sills (they go brittle so removing can be an issue), on removal found sills rusting away happily with nearly all the paint bubbled and a couple of small holes already.

We have a 05 x type estate and I've welded new sills on 3 years ago , there is a middle section that rusts out , it's build in in the design in my opinion , other wise a good car .
