30 years of R8 on August 1st 2020

Post by 214CONCERTO216 »

I bought my first Rover 200 on August 1st 1990 and have driven three others since then, but the R8 model has been in daily use for 30 years. Is that a record? The total combined mileage is just over 257000.

It's certainly high up on the list :clapping

R8 No.1 is still around, fortunately but had it's first 18 years of life in a museum collection and has a much lower mileage.

There is a 216 that was registered a week after the launch day and still going strong. There is also a pair of R8 that have both done similar mileages to yours.

They're out there - just not many now...
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos

Gaydon used to have R8 number one but chose to sell it - after a period out in the wild it is now safely cared for by a well respected member of this forum/club
