Well, it been a hell of a week but things have finally progressed to the point where we are Secure, clean and everyone in their place ready.
Only tools and workbenches left to be moved over which will be sorted by the weekend.

But this is how we currently look.

4 major jobs in with a fifth on its way shortly, definitely not going to be having any days off anytime soon.

So won’t be long for the new ramps per bay and a recovery truck.

9hrs today fixing another garages bodges after they charged £861 to fit the wrong head gasket (oil leaking at the block) to find then the wrong radiator was fitted as it interferes with the front cross member and would eventually fail, let alone the fact they hadn’t put the stops on the bottom of the rad either.

So head off again, correct gasket fitted. Found rounded off screws on the cam carrier, so stripped it down again and replaced cam seals and damaged bolts. Add sealant to the cam carrier as there previously was none and you guessed it, it was leaking oil too as was the rocker cover gasket, so all replaced. And just to make sure, swapped the inlet gasket. If all that wasn’t enough we had to change the lambda sensor as well as they had damaged the cable on refitting.

Car now runs and idles (short term) while we sort a new rad.

Well done Craig, there is a lot of poor work done by the trade and not just by back street garages either. Part is probably ignorance of the vehicle and the rest a couldn't care less attitude.

Do you have the tools to change/time/tension the cam belts on a KV6 Craig as a matter of interest?

I shall start to think about the refurbishment of my two GTI's next year so I will be coming up to have a chin wag and hopefully enjoy a brew!
I'm that ancient that the old gits stipend kicks in soon......
