Boot lid lock

Post by 214CONCERTO216 »

My K reg 216 boot lid lock has failed. I've got a spare one , but the design is a little bit different. It would appear that the defective one had an extra piece clipped on to it. Am I right? Are the two designs interchangeable?

A couple of photos might be helpful for us to see the extra piece you're referring to.

This should help you post pics :)

If its a plastic cover you are talking about yes they are the same apart from the cover of course ,the earlier ones had plastic covers , from memory you can still fit the cover to your new lock I think one of the tabs on the cover won't clip in hope am that helps :D

Hi -
I found that a boot lock from a 2004 scrapped MGSZ -saloon(!) - was a perfect replacement for the original one on our ‘95 216 SLi the remote lock cable fitted spot and and its shuts beautifully, literally a gentle close by hand pressure.

Should be worth a try?

I have replaced the original with the revised and later version which is more robust, and the everthing works well.
