The Rover Family/Brotherhood........or not.

Post by Topcat Tomcat »

Back in the day, when Dad worked for BL/Austin Rover/MG Rover, I was lucky enough to drive a series of MG Metro Turbos, as he was allowed two Company cars.

It was still a custom to wave at fellow MG drivers whenever your paths crossed!

I took the R8 out today in preference to the Leaf. At one point, I spotted a 25 and started to wave. No response! A couple of minutes later, a white van driver put his thumb up, so I assume he was a fellow Rover enthusiast!

Perhaps, I need to flash my headlights and wave in future. :D

My experience is that I get much more response when I am driving my 75 from other 75 drivers than I do in either the 25 or the R8s. Whether that is because a lot of 75s are now owned by enthusiasts whereas 25s and 45s are still largely in the cheap runabout category I am not sure.

When I’m out in either of my Rovers, I often notice passers by and other motorists looking and taking an interest. :)

...Yes when my Wife and I ( I say sounds a bit posh!)- go out in the 420 and 216 Sli’s both in Nightfire Red - we do get a few double takes of our little convoy...!
