Can I disable my 2005 Rover 45 Alarm?
The alarm kept going off this morning, apparently because the battery was low.
WARNING, POTENTIAL SILLY QUESTION ALERT.....
If I remove the Fuse number F1 (Passenger Compartment) that controls the Alarm ECU, anti-theft LED and the alarm sounder, will it disable the alarm completely?

The only way to disable it is with the eak and will come back on if the battery is disconnected.
It’s more than likely the door connectors need cleaning or replacement.

What's an eak? And by door connectors, do you mean the black things fitted to the door posts that control the courtesy lights? Finally, what produces the actual alarm sound?

EKA EMERGENCY KEY ACCESS CODE
Normally found on the same card as the radio security code.

Ah, I thought an eak was the noise you make when you're standing next to the car when the alarm goes off unexpectedly.

Re: Can I disable my 2005 Rover 45 Alarm?
I had a similar problem with a 2005 car, to the extent that I could be driving along the road with the alarm going off! It was impossible to reset it using the fob or any other method. From what I can remember, taking the fuse out would silence the main alarm (needed to disarm the immobiliser with the key fob first) but it also knocked out all of the functions controlled by the Pektron security unit: Intermittent wipe, central locking, interior lamp, rear fog lamps, horn, hazard warning lamps, electric windows etc. The alarm was still making a constant 'chirping' noise because it has a built-in battery back up.
I ended up finding the alarm sounder, disconnecting it and removing it from the car (not a quick job, as it's located in a relatively secure place on the car and some shear bolts needed to be removed to gain access to one of the fasteners, then other parts of the car had to be removed to gain access to the wiring plug and other fasteners). I took it apart and it was full of corrosion, so it ended up in the bin.
We have another 2005 car that also tends to set its alarm off if the battery voltage drops too low when starting the engine, but it resets ok as soon as it has done its 30-second blast.

Thanks Chaps. If I can work out where the sounder is, the Bravo Lima Oscar Oscar Delta Yankee thing is history!

Re: Can I disable my 2005 Rover 45 Alarm?
Problem that you encountered during driving along the road is known issue with mk2 Rover 45 cars. Battery Backed Up Sounder in mk2 cars is poorer quality and prone to dumping with water. Due to water within BBUS it starts sounding without any obvious reason. Since you cannot cut water that made contact for the sounder it is immposible to stop it.220 GSi turbo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 5:06 pm I had a similar problem with a 2005 car, to the extent that I could be driving along the road with the alarm going off! Problem is usualy solved by replacing mk2 version with the one from mk1 cars since they are better built.
For information, BBUS unit is placed under expansion tank and hard to get to it.

Re: Can I disable my 2005 Rover 45 Alarm?
Another update. I've just found a light green, powdery deposit around the rear, offside door switch. It's operation isn't as smooth as the other three, so I might be able to fit a new one tomorrow, before I go to work.

AND RELAX........
It's been playing up again, so it''s been removed! I was ready with a bucket of water and ear defenders, but they weren't needed!
