For those who may not know about the transaction of ownership between myself and Adam Ellender of this Rover 216S. I have taken ownership of his 216S 'Hyacinth' 4006,000 mile car, with a view to do a restoration on this old girl. Sadly Adam felt the work would be overwhelming and his regular repair centre he uses would not touch the poor car, due to the vast amount of underseal it has underneath. Due to it's condition and mileage, it's not a desirable car to own, unless it was restored.
The progress on this car is going to be steady and will start next year. Most of the work will be done by myself, with some help of friend in the body trade. I'll like to keep the club updated on this project, as it's such well known car for being saved in the past.
I do thank Adam for allowing me the opportunity to breath some new lease of life into this wonderful car and I'm looking forward to it's return to some of the shows with the cub next year.

Hyacinth is such a charming car, and has led such a charmed life so far, it would be a real shame for her to be lost.

The trick will be doing good repairs whilst retaining the character and patina build up over the years.

The good thing is that she'll never be a good candidate for a full resto - as they say about asking for directions " If you want to get there, don't start from here!"

It certainly does have some charm.
I doubt I can get it fully restored to some showroom condition, the plan is to restore what broken or rusty. Try to provide a bit more life in it for a few years to come. One of it's charms is it's rough round the edges look and it's high mileage. I'm looking forward to 2022 and the long task ahead of me with this car. I hope I can do it justice, while keeping it's charm
