MG ZR160/ZS180 front brake set-up

Post by tomcat216 »

These are identical right?

How much will a FULL set-up cost me?

Also, does it matter that my car is non-ABS? I'd have thought not as the reluctor ring will just sit there and do nothing.

Thanks for your help,

Mark

Yep identical.

It doesn't matter about non ABS, ABS as the reluctor ring is on the hub and your just swapping the discs.

Most people opt for the 620ti calipers and the MGZR160/ZS180 discs. The reason being 620ti calipers are more readily avaliable and cheaper. They need filing ever so slightly for fitting and some washers, but nothing complex.

I used a company called JRT Automotive for the discs and pads. He seemed the cheapest out there. If you type the name into google you will find his ebay shop come up. If you give a ring he will do any discs with combo of brake pads you like (remember if you have 620ti calipers you need the 620ti brake pads).

I went for the EBC Smooth Discs, and Red stuff pads for mine. Still awaiting fitting at the moment, as I intend on smartening up the calipers before they go on.

I will do a pic by pic tutorial for the forum when Dan gets around to doing them.

I hope that helps.

Also when you say full set up I presume you just meant the fronts?

Thanks Lindsey :) I may just do that instead then as I'll probably be getting a MOT failure 620ti when I get some room, wont cost me anything then :D

If you could do some pictures of what parts to grind and where to put the washers, that would be very helpful. Would it actually apply, seeing as I'm fitting my 17's back on?
