Re: rear drum to disc conversion
Had rear discs on my Mk6 Escort Cabby, my Vecrtra, Mondeo and MGF, the handbrakes were rubbish, never had any issues
with the drums on my 25 and Cabby plus many others.
Handbrake on my Astra with rear discs is good though.

Re: rear drum to disc conversion
How does the cable do it's job? On the drums you've got the cylinder at the top and the handbrake cable pulls the shoes in at the bottom.
On discs, you've only got the callipers. Does it mechanically pull the two pads together just like the calliper does?

you can also see in the last pic that there are no holes for the calipers to attach

Re: rear drum to disc conversion
K-Series Mayo with a drizzle of Brake Fluid and some brick for texture, that's as good as the food gets at Castle Dist.
Re: rear drum to disc conversion
If you have discs on a Escort you were probably using the Focus or Sierra calipers which were one of the worse ever made, the Escort if fitted with discs (non Cosworth) had brake shoes inside the disc which will lock wheels at any speed
on another note my ZS and ZR have discs on back and the handbrake is really good, heard the car on the burn out strip and Santa Pod no trouble

Re: rear drum to disc conversion
do the handbrake cables fit too from a 45?
Re: rear drum to disc conversion
Good point , will up date when I have done this , but I know the rest fits , the front end on the 45 is not the same .
