Hi Vinny1979 & JOHNDQ, Just a quick update, I received the new Ranco valve on Saturday PM from Saabits of Newton Abbot cost £20 managed to fit it on Sunday afternoon dodging the showers & now the heater works fine.
The replacment of the water pump, thermostat, manifold gasket & cambelt will have to wait until I can get the car into the garage for a service in a week or so,s time.
I just wanted to say thanks chaps for putting me on the right track your advice was much appreciated.

Great news, Its a belt and braces approach to the rest, the water pump "sounds like" its due anyway, as does the inlet manifold gasket, hopefully gives you many more years of trouble free motoring, ps dont forget oil and filter :laughing2
