Massive over reaction IMO. I don't think anyone expects you to miss the birth of your baby Carl!

You are of course entitled to do whatever you want. No-one has asked you to miss the birth of your baby, and I do appreciate that a new arrival will change your life beyond all recognition. That is much of the reason myself and lindsey have not been able to be as active as previously over the previous year or so. If you wish to resign I suggest you drop a note to the chairperson or secretary so they can start finding a replacement to ensure a smooth handover.

It isn't expected that the committee members have to turn out to all events, just that any shows that are officially attended by the club are well organised with people attending/organising the event and have the stand equipment also where practical. Obviously you can't force people to attend but making sure there are reliable people attending is usually a good course of action and you always plan for a few people to drop out at the last minute.

There are always instances where things stop people attending shows they intended to. I was supposed to attend the Mid Lincs show but my car decided to spit its wheelbearing out the afternoon before the show (the day I got back from my holidays). I let the club event organiser know as soon as I could so that people wouldn't be expecting me on the day. Its just polite ettiquette really and it isn't a regular occurance from me. I'm pretty sure noone will think any the less of me for it, these things happen.

i know it probably feels like people are ganging up on you but opinions are just being expressed. you get very defensive very quickly. no one including nigel expects you to put the club before family. what you have put above is not on mate. to me that implies you will be turning up mob handed to a family event. if you dont think you can keep your cool maybe you should think about giving BL a miss. hope to see you there though as im guessing it will probably your last mg/rover show.

y do people think having kids is the end of their social life's...

god how did all those other family's cope...

some members have 3 or 4 kids and still managed to put time into clubs.

i hold 2 jobs whilst looking after 2 kids .

she holds 2 jobs as well. and still manages to look after the kids and find the time to take them to social kids clubs etc.

So what are the dates for the NEC ?
Is the stand sorted with cars etc. I assume it's the same size as last year.
I should be able to help out but will need to book time of work, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I don't understand why all the negativity and insults. If help is needed, just ask. We didn't go short of help last year, so why should it be any different this year.
