Most people I've spoken to reckon the Rovers were base + lacquer. But most modern cars are 2K. I can post close-ups of my base + clear, and 2K re-spray parts of my flame red GSi, if it would help.

i think i might be going down the 2k route, although the i do like depth of the shine with base + lacquer. I think in the long run though 2k will be easier to keep red as ive seen so many yellow vw/seat/audis that end up a horrible cream colour and because of the lacquer theres no way of polishing the colour back up. Saying that i dont really plan on the car being a daily driver so its going to spend half its time tucked up under a cover so i wouldnt imagine the sun is going to have much impact on it in the 3 weeks of summer.
