Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416
Updated
Have now fitted the wide bore manifold and Frankensteined the rear pipes and boxes to fit.
Losing power away from the lights and not much more in top of rev range.
The widebore manifold is making the car run very lean and I have lost torque. High revolutions power is slightly down too.
Refitted the Teg 421 exhaust manifold with a catalytic converter, Honda CRX mid section and Rover backbox. The CRX mid section is wider bore but with similar flange fittings.
The manifold and mid section has has given me a touch more power all through the rev range and have not had to tinker with anything else.
I guess the redundant 2.25" manifold might work with a car that the fuelling has been uprated on but bigger injectors and ecu tuning is not on the cards at this stage.
My old exhaust was rotten which prompted me to try and upgrade it and I already had the D16 integra manifold with 02 sensor hole and CRX mid section.

After surviving a search expedition into the black hole It feels a little like turbo lag when accelerating from a standstill up to 3000rpm

Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416
I am now about to try 420D front springs to give me the perfect ride height.
EDIT: i have now fitted ZS180 front springs on Bilstein B6 shocks .
This gives the car a firm but controlled ride with less body roll, not perfect but
The rear has standard length shock with H&R lowering springs and 10mm spacers.
The car now has front suspension which does not hit the tyre, even in an emergency stop.
I have a pair of unused front H&R springs for 400RT and R8 both for sale @£50 pair delivered, I think they only lower the car 10-15mm from standard but they will improve the ride.

Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416
As usual no pics but I have now fitted the Honda DC2 Integra 27mm front anti roll bar and the DC2 front brace (which I discovered by accident) fitted Rover 400s.The Rover chassis had four bolt holes ready drilled with bolts already in situ so it was easy to fit. This has sharpened up my steering considerably.
The other major improvement was fitting uprated Integra drop-links with bushes by Hardrace. this immediately felt better but not harsh.
I have purchased a set of H & R springs which I intend to fit to my Bilsteins next month and I am hopeful that I will get a 24mm anti roll bar made up as I mentioned in another post, as I now now find the rear of my car on the pretensioned Spax rear springs too 'loose'.
The ride quality is, remarkably, firmer but less aggravating somehow. Its really starting to feel a whole new different, better different, more purposeful sort of car.
Pic will be up as soon as bonnet has respray.

Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416
Forgive the ignorance but for my edification: the front brace is across the top of the suspension (under bonnet) and the anti roll bar is somewhere under the engine across the 'axle'?
I know it's not an axle but the word suits my purpose and you hardly hear it these days so felt it needed resurrecting!!
