Re: Matt's Weekend Repairs - 1998 216 Coupe
Even the original part number seems to just show a coil of brake pipe - I can't believe the dealerships made up their own replacements, but maybe! I'll keep looking... That's what we did at Ford on the Escorts ect the OE brake line were never available to buy. If you get stuck let me know I'm sure ...

Re: Matt's Weekend Repairs - 1998 216 Coupe
Not a lot to report here, not refitted the fog light yet...keep meaning to buy some stainless spire clips and screws for it. MOT is coming up in March, so need to give the car a once over. I need to change a rear wheel cylinder, it was sticking, I freed it up, but it could do with new ones. The shor...

Thanks!
Went for a drive down a few country lanes to a nice pub.
Fog light fell out and I dragged it down the road, oops.

Result (at last!) https://farm1.staticflickr.com/863/41134461021_de0bd28da8_n.jpg Its been miserable weather all week, so didn't get around to finishing things off until this morning....in the rain. Bought some new bolts and a nut for the underside of the headlamp so they were all secured nicely. Bo...

Re: Matt's Weekend Repairs - 1998 216 Coupe
Ok, a little less moaning, a little more working. More success today, took the grinder to the captive bits for the headlamps, glued on the broken tab on the other light and reassembled. I took the bumper off to give me extra room for the grinding and even got one of the two fog lamps working as a bo...

Re: Matt's Weekend Repairs - 1998 216 Coupe
Sometimes I do wonder about this whole running cars on a budget thing! I've had a seriously frustrating day and wondering why we just didn't pay a garage to do the work - just seems like a massive waste of money to me though. Started off with an easy* job today, fix headlamp. Unfortunately, the head...

That carpet came out really well! I might have to try the same on the one in the Mini as I'm not particularly happy with with the colour.

Re: Matt's Weekend Repairs - 1998 216 Coupe
The last time I had to replace a CV gaiter, I cheated and used one that is designed to stretch over the CV joint using a cone. I bought a pair, which is just as well as the first one split quite spectacularly (possibly not enough lube or left stretched for too long on the cone). It's a bit of a wre...

Re: Matt's Weekend Repairs - 1998 216 Coupe
Not too bad, just a pain! Brakes should be easy to sort, headlamp I need to drill out the broken bolts and replace them. I'm hoping emissions is just the cat I put on when changing the exhaust, I need to get the bolts off the one that was on the car and refit that, I think its better quality. I'll c...
