I have a P-reg (Nov 1996) 216 with 1.6ltr Rover K-Series engine.

Does any Club Member know who could help with;

1) testing & repairing the ECU, which is a Rover MEMS 1.9 type MKC104030 ?
2) identifying the immobiliser code (type 5AS, 2-button key fob)
3) matching that immobiliser code to 2 spare ECUs (same MKC number as the original)
4) provide, or direct me to, a circuit diagram of that ECU (ie electronic component layout, not just the connector pin data)

It would appear that the Fuel Injection Pump (FIP) driver circuit in my original ECU has failed, and an external relay has been 'patched in' to compensate. So the FIP is energised as soon as the ignition is switched on, even if the engine is not running, risking FIP overheating and no FIP shut-down in the event of an accident.

I may be able to help you with this,

Whilst I can't 100% test your ECU offline (short of plugging it in to a running car and taking diagnostic readings with Testbook/T4) - I may be able to help still.

I can certainly match your 5AS to a replacement ECU - in fact - we can do it as a postal service thought the Rover Coupe Owners club - Full members of this club get £5 discount on the costs (RCOC members get £10) - postage is quite high as we do it Special delivery, but can do it in person if your near Oxfordshire:)

Not tried matching the code to two engine ECU's but that should work ok - Feel free to use the above service and just pop both in the post, happy to give that a try for you.
