Common fault on the Rover 200/400, my old 200 had it as well. The backlight has gone on the clock.

Does anyone know what size the replacement bulb is for them and where I can get one from?

All it says on the back of mine is PHILLIPS 12/1.2

Don't worry - I didn't rip it out to check, I've got three clocks (and wood surround) in the boot that I've got from scrappies!

They are about £6.00 from X-Part. Had to have one lately.

OUCH! Any decent car shop should have them for pence, just a bog standard twist lock bulb same as this one

Yes, does kind of make you wonder how they think they can charge so much, one reason I will only use them for stuff I can't get from a factor and T series exhaust manifold gaskets.

One thing I can tell you...not a single garage between the M25 and Cambridge had one on Saturday night :(

The bulb failed in the rally car on Saturday evening on the way to a rally and as we're timed to the nearest minute on this even we didn't need to bother with the posh expensive rally clock...big mistake that was :( In the end, I had the trim panel in my lap on the drive up, with the bits box laid out on the back seat trying to jury rig a 5w sidelight bulb to fit :roll:

I had a similar problem with a temperature sensor. Not with X-Part but with a Rover dealer who wanted to charge me £36 for one - even though they are only £9 from X-Part :x

i presume using a blue bulb would not make the clock illuminate blue? anyone got any ideas on this or have changed the illumination colour of their clock?

If the original light is clear then a blue light would make it a mucky colour - mixture of blue and orange.
