Traffic Master

Post by Smithy »

Does anyone know if the traffic master found in the streetwise are a straight fitment for the clock behind the wood on the dashboard? Or will it require modification?

The wiring is different on the MkIII's, so this will be the case on the MkII.

Is the MKIII clock even compatible with the MkII dash?

Yep wiring is probably different, but from memory the connector is with the traffic master. It is in the loft, it was going in the Maestro, but the other half hasn't done it yet, so I am planning to steal it off him ;)

Was just wondering about the actual fitment, I guess it is one of those things I am going to have to check out. It looks similiar to the 200Mk2 clock.

An example of it in the Maestro

Looks like it will fit then.

Wiring isn't an issue tbh.

'scuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of it?

(If I see a gadget like that, I normally have to get it too!!)

It tells you if you are nearing a traffic jam - I think it works using the RDS system. The good thing about it is there is no subscription charge.

Yep as Matthew said will give you prior warning to a traffic jam on the roads using those blue traffic cameras you see dotted around on the roads.

However it will also double up as a clock as well.

Trafficmaster works via those blue things on the sides of the roads which look like a camera.

The blue cameras count the cars and then RDS is used to transmit the info.

Just happened to be looking for more detail on this....I'm sure I read an article / installation guide on here at one time.
Anyway....to convert the std clock installation to the Traffic Master, I believe there are a different number of pins in the back of the display unit.

To make this thing work, does it need anything else? I did read a guide to making up a conversion lead somewhere. But apart from that, is it a simple swapover....?

I notice that the 75 also needs an ECU connection lead.
