Sealing tailgate hinges after adjustment
Sealing tailgate hinges after adjustment
Can I loosen the hinges to adjust tailgate and then re-seal around the hinges? Or do they have to be fully removed to apply sealant between the hinge and car body?

Any attempt at sealing would be better than none, but ideally the hinges should be lifted so that you can get sealant underneath them and then squeeze it out as the hinges are tightened.

It’s interesting that after multiple leak fixes, I think this might be the dryer of the leak in my car. I did use a little Sikaflex but not much to put the hinges plus factory fitted shims back in - maybe not enough and maybe more between the shims us needed? What sealant do you guys use?
