Re: The 420GSiT has gone...

I have my coupe as a visual reference to help me put it all back together again should I manage to forget where anything came from.

Re: The 420GSiT has gone...

Been a bit of a break on the car progress the past few weeks due to family visits and preparing for building work on the house, but yesterday I managed to complete the strip down of the belly of the car, at long last. I removed the exhaust centre section, front arch liners, fuel lines, remains of th...

Re: The 420GSiT has gone...

Spent a couple of hours on the car this morning removing the fuel tank. The tank strap bolts came off with no fuss, as did all the hoses. Fortunately its removal didn't reveal any further unexpected rust issues on the floor pan. https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=47DCEE0E03D14588%2110713&auth...

Re: The 420GSiT has gone...

Great to see that there's still life in the old dog :laughing2 Its certainly a bit 'ruff' in places John :laughing2 I didn't manage to update this thread last week, but I spent Sunday removing the front suspension. I still need to separate the lower arms from the hubs, but unfortunately my ball joi...

Re: The 420GSiT has gone...

Spent this morning clearning some the last bits of the garage around the front of the 420 so that I can strip the front suspension off it tomorrow. Do you have any experience with a welder? Will you tackle these jobs yourself? Never done it and even if I wanted to it makes more sense to ship the car...

Re: The 420GSiT has gone...

Been a bit longer than I'd hoped since the last update, the arrival of our first child at the end of 2021 meant I needed to complete some essential tasks on the house refurb ready for the arrival and all the left over building materials ended up in the garage, largely under, in and on top of the 420...

Re: How many R8's left - do we have a definitive number?

I've added a new page to my site to graphicaly show the statistical trends for the R8s based on their tax status over the past three years of data that I currently hold. You can toggle data ranges in the chart on/off and you can filter the data based on things like body style, model, engine and colo...

This for 92-96 models or 96-99 models?

Re: Tomcat racer gearbox rebuild with Quaife

Turns out the Quaife isn't actually wider than a normal diff. Seems the previous owner opened it up for some reason and hadn't torqued it back down fully after. When we tightened it up everything was as expected again and the shimming problem resolved itself. Given we couldn't ascertain why it had b...

LTI is Long Track Injection according to the data in the EPC John.
