I would want to rule out the relay before changing the motor. Try cleaning the relay contacts.

My K reg 216 boot lid lock has failed. I've got a spare one , but the design is a little bit different. It would appear that the defective one had an extra piece clipped on to it. Am I right? Are the two designs interchangeable?

I thought the throttle position sensor was faulty on my 1993 214Sli, but it was stale fuel.
