Hiya, thanks guys I've tried a battery from my dads 2.5 omega, a neighbours 5 series and a mates mondeo tdci- it would take a lot to persuade me to splash out on a new battery! The boot light reminded me- the central locking randomly closes the locks when its running- could this be draining the batt...

Make sure you use VHT paint! (...or BBQ paint)

Exhaust generally rust from the inside out, especially if you do lots of short journeys. Only way you're really going to beat it is SS.

P.s, sorry but those links aren't working for me!

Battery not charging but alternator ok?

Hi, basically after driving the car ('92 214 gsi) the battery will go flat. However, if just left with the battery charged it will start after being left ages. So... I assume its a charging problem rather than a battery drain. However, I've changed the alternator (twice- returned the first one!) but...

Haha back on the case!

Rimmer Bros only stock for the multi-point cars.

Anyone have thoughts on my (slightly iffy) diagram?

Cheers

Cheers I always used Rimmers when I had an old rangie so I know they're good, fingers crossed! The purge valve is the left arrow on the pic above. I'm guessing now that it should connect as so... http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3710/p1000354xu6.jpg Sorry to keep asking you R8 Man- its just that I...

I've been looking at the pipes on my SPi 214 and the canister on the right has a red plastic pipe going to the inlet manifold, where it connects with a rubber T piece, with another piece of red plastic pipe coming off the T piece and going to the air filter. I've had problems on my car with the rub...

Thanks mate, cheers for the effort but I don't think a clear picture exists! Maybe its something to do with the car being a run out model- its an SPI but with the later cat, A/C etc. I'm just going to have to work out where the pipes should go instead of being lazy!

Thanks for the advice

Hiya, its a 1.4 K-series. Thought all the 214's had them, sorry! Its my old car (gave to it to my mum a while back) needs a new alternator & the vacuum pipes, need to get it running well or she says she'll scrap it. After all the effort I put into a few years back it would break my heart to be h...
