Re: Electric Mirrors

Well I'm not sure about the bubble shape cars by comparison but my R8 214si did not have either elec windows or mirrors wiring into the doors, from what i remember, but the guts of it like power connection and place for the relays for Windows was there. I swapped elec front Windows from a donor sei ...

Re: R8 bonnet won't close properly

Beware if the catch doesnt engage properly, one of the coupe owners at the classic resto show Sunday told me the story of when his bonnet flew open at 90mph on the motorway. You defo don't want that to happen!

Re: Joined with my new 214i Sprint

As far as i know, 205 45 16 is about the largest you can get away with, if the offset is right. That's what i have on my hatch on the front. 205 50 16 is ok on the rear

Re: Joined with my new 214i Sprint

Nice colour 👌

I notice yours has the gti underbumper extensions on the front, i have those on mine too....adds a little more sportiness.

Never seen one on those alloys before, now you mention modern mini i see where they came from. Did they rub on full lock?

Re: Drain holes for sunroof

Sounds like the drains are blocked. Tracing leaks is indeed a nightmare on any car so you're lucky its obvious! I would on a dry day open sunroof, park downhill then pour water into the area of each corner and see if it drains ok. Similarly rear parking facing uphill Once you know which one or maybe...

Re: 420 GSi Touring Turbo?

There is truly nothing better IMO of a sleeper lowly aged car, particularly an estate/tourer completely surprising and beating modern stuff off the lights. 200bhp in an 1100kg car will still shift amoungst many moderns! Honestly when i take out my dad's old volvo 960 1991, looks a bit beaten up, jun...

Re: Getting an early 220 Turbo Coupe back on the road

Hmmm you've given me a thought there about changing the clutch, which is really high. Ive just installed myself a lift.

Then again, maybe no need go that far for a clutch i guess....

Re: 1995 214 Sei BRG

What's the diagnosis on hgf? Those earlier 1400 k series arent so known for it, could just be lack of use and condensation if its just a little mayo on the oil cap... That's a fair point, however I've had three N reg SEi's over the years which have all needed head gaskets, including my current 50,0...
